On May 19,2021 it was announced that a new adaptation of the very successful Young Adult Fantasy series Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead will be adapted into a new TV series.
As fans of the series remember, the book series was already adapted in 2014 into a film starring Zoey Deutch and Dominic Sherwood, the film was not a huge success and many fans disliked the adaptation. I actually liked the cast in the film but it is true it wasn't the best adaptation but, now the book series is coming alive again with a new adaptation into a tv series with multiple episodes, and hoping this newer version will excite fans of the books to delve right back into St. Vladimir's Academy and the adventures of Rose and Lissa. 📺Billie Woodruff, who's directed episodes of Empire and Black Lightning, is set to direct the pilot. Marguerite Macintyre serves as an executive producer along with Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Legacies), In an interview with EW Julie Plec described the show as a "Modern-day Bridgerton with vampires". Which to be honest is a strange way to describe VA but, maybe she just used Bridgerton because it's the hit show these days? 🤔
The series will be released on PEACOCK (NBC’s streaming service). No specific date has been set but it is set to release in 2022.
